Habits

I hope that everyone has had a great start to the new year so far. As for myself, I would say I am optimistic and trying to stay pro-active about my goals.

I started reading The Trial by Franz Kafka after completing Colorless Tsukuru Tazaki and His Years of Pilgrimage by Haruki Murakami. I was going to write a review but I think I might just compile monthly favorites/likes because I'm not very good at rating. I either like it or hate it. And anything in between is often an unmemorable read which isn't even worth having feeelz.

I got back on my week day work out routine. I used to focus all on leg workouts because it was the easiest (imo) and the butt burns (from squats) feel good. But I SUPPOSE I need to have a good balance, so I've integrated cardio (light jog with thirty second bursts) and light bench pressing.

I might pull out my Japanese workbook this week.. Who knows.

Happy New Years

First thing; I changed my layout. The previous was short-lived and I really liked it, but the highlighter yellow started getting on my nerves so I simplified ever further.

Although the new year doesn't actually motivate me to follow through with my resolutions, I always like putting it out into the universe because you never know.

  1. Focus deeply on ideas. Over time, I grew lethargic towards goals, hobbies, or interests. I know the reason behind it, so now that I am gaining back my strength, I hope to use that energy to focus on the ideas that I used to loved. Like embodying the idea of an aspiring M.D. and revisiting musical hobbies.
  2. Write in a journal. I stopped writing exactly 8 months ago. Partly because I was busy but also because it was replaced by social media. I miss the inconvenience (yes) of writing because it gave me time to introspect before it spilled out of me.
  3. Do healthy things. This includes eating better, exercising and keeping a positive outlook. You see, I have this yoga mat that has graduated with me through uni until now. It was handy for taking study breaks, when I told myself I'd do a little exercise but actually had short naps; then I moved home and now it's sitting in my room, rolled and upright, serving as a temporary hat rack... I reckon it's time to put it to actual use.
  4. Be Bold. Corny as this sounds, I need to do exactly that. I'm good at putting up fronts when I need to but majority of my decisions are low-risk because I like being in my safety zone. But I decided in order for #1 to follow through, I would have to be #4.
